Qualyco was born as a spin-off of the University of Verona. From academia to practice. Many ideas are set aside, by listening to companies and understanding what they really need: not the latest AI frontier, but a system that is understandable and easy to interact with.
INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
This is not a stage trademark. It is the formalisation of a method: the expert transfers knowledge of quality to the system, and the system makes it repeatable on the line. The path starts in 2023, at the patent-pending stage, and reaches a completed filing.
Qualyco was founded in 2023 by Andrea Chiarini, Marco Cristani and Francesco Setti, academics at the University of Verona, startup founders and professionals.
The aim is not to introduce AI for its own sake. It is to start from a concrete problem — quality, machines, processes — and turn experience, images and signals into better decisions. That is Human-In-The-Loop.
Milestones

The Nocovis project starts with the University of Verona, supported by Fondazione Cariverona.
Field work expands. Qualyco supports companies such as Benelli Armi, Vetroresina, Ondaplast, Tecnorulli and Veronesi. Collaborations born from concrete problems, which led to the two core products: Visual Intelligence and Signal Intelligence.
The Qualyco team grows: two engineers join to cover demand for Visual Intelligence installations.
Presentation of the MVP already under field testing. In March Qualyco is at MECSPE, guests of partner Chiarini & Associati at stand B30, Hall 21 — Digital Factory.
The portable, installable version of Visual Intelligence comes to life.
At the Italian National Innovation Award, Qualyco wins the Young Entrepreneur Program (YEP) prize from PNICube, with a residency in the Pépite network in France.
The first website goes live. The industrial machine-learning technologies are patent pending. On 30 November the team is in Milan for PNI 2023.
Second place at the Padua final. The idea also receives special mentions from Le Village and DigitalRS. Qualyco thus qualifies for the National Innovation Award.
Spin-off of the University of Verona, affiliated with the Departments of Engineering and Management. Andrea Chiarini is CEO, Francesco Setti Chief Scientific Officer. The quality-control system with voice interaction enters the patenting phase.
